We had 17 players, so we added a "ghost", to make it an even number. It was nice to have 6 folks join us for the first time.
As last week, we split the players into two groups - Lions and Tigers - based on a guess at ability. The software avoided partnering two players from the same group, which resulted in more even matchups and closer games.
The plan was to have the grand finale be the 1st in Lions partnered with the 2nd in Tigers, and vice versa. But since all but one of the Tigers had left (guess I didn't communicate very well...), we declared Tony L the champ of the Tigers group (sole survivor). However, it should be noted that Carla Dewolf was the actual winner of that group, with the best record in the round robin.
With only 1 left from Tigers, we had a playoff just for the Lions, with Laura Berkley and Al Geelhaar edging out Bob Berkley and Ray Sullivan.
